Ajae Beauty was inspired by the birth of Jai’s daughter and the experience she had with post-partum. After having her daughter at 30 weeks via emergency C-section, her life went into overdrive.  Her daughter was placed in the NICU for 52 days. During this time Jai traveled back and forth to make sure her daughter had breast milk and all the cuddles she could give her, all while trying to heal from major surgery.

Self-care became non-existent for Jai and Post-Partum Psychosis reared its ugly head. Post-Partum Psychosis only occurs in approximately 1 to 2 out of every 1,000 deliveries, or approximately .1-.2% of births.  A rare condition that is not talked about enough.

While she was healing, she was exposed to a lot of truths about our mental health system. There are not enough resources to help us when we are going through a crisis. Also, if you don’t have someone advocating for you, the system can write you off pretty quickly.

Through telling her story she wants to create a community of healing and togetherness.

She will be providing resources for mental health support, products and merchandise to promote self-care and healing, and will just be an all-around advocate for new mothers and anyone that may need help navigating their own journey to healing.

Let’s all heal together.

There is beauty in healing”
